How was your Eid? I hope you enjoyed yours. Alhamdulillah I did, very much. Shout-out to my dad for being very patient and for making Eid very fun! For the months of September and October I have been and will be reading inshallah 'The Exile' by Allan Folsom, the author of The Day After Tomorrow, which I have read and greatly enjoyed. I have had this book, The Exile, for about two months I think (I'm borrowing it from a sister) and it has been taking me so long to read it for some reason. I hope to be finished with it by the end of October inshallah, so I can give it back!
As salamu alikum and hello everyone!

As salamu alikum and hello everyone!
I know this is pretty late but I wanted to make sure I finished this post and post it today inshallah! I have made myself a hat, as well as a pillow case, which is a real learning experience that required a lot of improvising, and I have three WIPs that I’ve been working on. So let’s get to it! As salamu alikum and hello everyone!
The Islamic month of Thul Hijjah is here and it is now the 5th day mashallah. I meant to post this yesterday but the baby has gotten sick subhanallah and was up almost all of Thursday night, so I was mad tired yesterday. He was a little better in the morning but was coughing and sort of woozy all day. I wanted to share some reminders that were shared to me by a few people, about the benefits of the first 10 days of this Islamic month. The first is about ‘Fasting during the first 9 days of Thul Hijjah’ and that is that it is a Sunnah. A questioner asked Shaikh al-‘Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) the following question: Question: Oh Shaikh, are there any authentic ahadith that mention fasting the first [nine] days of Dhul-Hijjah? Answer by Shaikh al-‘Uthaimeen: “Fasting the first [nine] of Dhul-Hijjah is from the righteous actions without doubt. And the Prophet salallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam said, “There are not any days in which righteous actions are done that are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days.” They said, “Oh Messenger of Allaah, not even jihad in Allaah’s cause?” He said, “Not even jihad in Allaah’s cause, except for a man who left out with his self and his wealth, and he did not return with either.” You can find the full post from the Salaf-us-Saalih website (it’s pretty short). The second is the actions that are recommended to do during these ten days to get some benefit of the fact that these days are which the righteous actions are more beloved to Allah than any other. Shaikh Muhammad bin Saalih al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) was asked about these actions and they are:
This also comes from a post from the site Saad Burbank, and goes into more detail about the first ten days of Thul Hijjah, as well as intending to sacrifice. So let us all strive to do as much good as we can during the rest of this week, since Eid will be on Thursday inshallah. As salamu alikum and hello!
Recently, a few family members went traveling and I asked if they could get me some crafting items, mostly for crocheting, and I'd pay them back. In this post I will share the products I asked for, as well as something that was given as a gift. As salamu alikum and hello everyone! Have a good Friday inshallah! Allah informs us that it is not allowed to follow anything without knowledge. He says:
“And follow not, (O man i.e. do not say, act or witness) that of which you have no knowledge. Verily! The hearing, and the sight and the heart of each of those ones will be questioned.” [Al-Israa (17):36] And He also warns us not to speak about Him without knowledge: “…and saying things about Allah of which you have no knowledge.” [Al-A’araaf (7):33] In the above Ayah, Allah is telling us that He has forbidden Muslims to speak about Him without knowledge, and lying upon Allah is one way of doing this. The one who lies about Allah is not only guilty of speaking about Him without knowledge, but also he is amongst the most oppressive of people as Allah Himself describes: “And who is more oppressive than he who lies against Allah, or who denies His signs…” Besides that, He, the Wise, also describes the punishment, on the Day of Judgment, for anyone who involves themselves in this dangerous practice, thus: “And you will see on the Day of Judgment, those who lie upon Allah, their faces blackened.” [Az-Zumar (39): 60] Many Muslims would tell you that stealing, bribery, killing, adultery etc. are all prohibited (Haram) acts. However, when it comes to lying upon Allah and/ or His Messenger they are not even aware that such a sin exists, and so they would indulge in it freely without worry. This complacency among Muslims regarding this sin comes about because of the great ignorance that prevails concerning 1) the rights of Allah and His Messenger and 2) the serious punishment that results from indulging in sin. This complacent attitude, coupled with ignorance, has been the main factors for the majority of the deviations and differences found in Islam. |
