As salamu alikum and hello everyone!
How was your Eid? I hope you enjoyed yours. Alhamdulillah I did, very much. Shout-out to my dad for being very patient and for making Eid very fun! For the months of September and October I have been and will be reading inshallah 'The Exile' by Allan Folsom, the author of The Day After Tomorrow, which I have read and greatly enjoyed. I have had this book, The Exile, for about two months I think (I'm borrowing it from a sister) and it has been taking me so long to read it for some reason. I hope to be finished with it by the end of October inshallah, so I can give it back!

It's not that the book is boring, rather on the contrary. It's very exciting, I think I just started to read it when I got busy again with school, and the baby is much more active now mashallah (he is 1 years old now!!) walking and to be truthful, a bit destructive. We have to be on our toes now, so that he doesn't hurt himself trying to climb on something not climbable, oe pull things on top of himself and such.
So I went to a party last Saturday at a friend's house, and the dress I wore had thin straps, much of my shoulders would be exposed, as well as my underarms, and I wanted to cover that. I was originally going to buy some fabric and make a basic shrug, but I was unable to get to a fabric shop, so I crocheted a wrap. Which helped to cover my shoulders, although it was a little warm to wear.
I found the One Skein Summer Wrap free pattern on Yarnspirations and it uses just one skein of yarn. The yarn suggested is Caron One Pound, but I used the Red Heart Super Saver yarn I had in the color Medium Purple. The crochet hook suggested was 10mm but I used a 6mm hook since that's the largest I have. I'd say it took me about 5-6 hours to make, I started to time myself the first few hours but then forgot to keep going...

Since I used some of that yarn already to make a hat, I had about 10 rows as well as the border to finish before I ran out of yarn, boo. But alhamdulillah it looked fine and I got a few compliments for it, my friends were really amazed that I actually made that by hand mashallah. The only thing is that it would have been nicer for the wrap to have been much longer, and maybe blocked it. I'm not sure if using the hook size suggested would have helped to make it longer using the amount of yarn that I had, but inshallah I want to make this again, and use the hook suggested, as well as making sure I have enough yarn.
I went to Bu Faisals a few days before Eid, and my mom found this plastic container with yarn and knitting needles inside. I didn't really look at it all the way, just saw yarn and needles and put it with the rest of the stuff we were getting. When I got home and took my stuff out, I saw that it was this set to make a knitted scarf.
I think the company it's from is Bead Bazaar, and the set makes a Fluffy Soda Pop Scarf. It comes with two skeins of this, this untasteful yarn, a pair of size 6mm bamboo knitting needles and a multilingual instruction booklet. But really, this yarn is not pretty to me. I tried knitting with it to see if it just looks like that all wrapped up, and that it would look better knitted but so far, it still looks ugly. I don't know what I'll do with it just yet, I have to do SOMETHING, I can't let it sit next to my other yarn!
