As Salamu Alikum and hello everyone. Last week I talked about the chores that are done in my family and a little about how they are done. This week I will go a little more in depth about the chores. If you want to know about it, keep reading on. Warning! This is probably going to be a little long, so if you aren't a big reader, then you can move on along. I won't mind.
So! On to the chores!
So! On to the chores!
Laundry: Washing and putting clothes in the dryer, or hanging them out, sorting and giving them out to everyone. I do my own laundry, it’s easier and my brothers don’t have to touch my under garments. Plus I decide on when I want to wash my clothes. I usually wash once a week.
Kitchen: washing the dishes from breakfast, lunch and dinner, cleaning the counters off, wiping the oven, putting dishes away, squeegee the floor about twice a week and cleaning the fridge and cabinets often.
Cooking: Duh, what it says. The person on cooking usually is the person who had kitchen the week before. Or it could be the person who is on kitchen so I guess double duty. Or is it?
Bathrooms: doing a throughout cleaning about twice a week, which means squeegee the floor, scrubbing the tub, cleaning the toilet, the sink, the trash can and wiping the mirror. Through the week, you have to make sure the bathroom is neat and there is toilet tissue in there.
Living and dining room: keeping it neat, squeegee once a week, shaking and vacuuming the rug, sweeping everyday, setting the table for all the meals, cleaning the table off after eating, dusting, and watering the plant-which isn’t going so well.
Hallways and school room: squeegee once a week, sweeping everyday, dusting, make shoe racks neat, and keeping bookshelves in the school room organized.
And trash: take the trash out when needed.
I want to mention the kitchen again because it kind of is a hard chore. No one really likes having kitchen as their chore. I will say one thing though; washing dishes is a little calming. I know, weird huh? I don’t really like having kitchen myself but someone has to do it. Brother #4 can’t really do it, it is too much for him to do and he isn’t that good at washing dishes yet, but he is improving alhamdulillah. He has to have someone do most of the work for him and he is the helper. He can help with drying and putting the dishes away, cleaning the counters off and any other odd job that is needed in the kitchen. Usually me or my mom does the kitchen when it’s supposed to be his week.
O.K. I know I mentioned that I would say HOW we got to the schedule we have but I honestly can't say how that happened. I do know that at first, before we got this schedule, we were going to do what this family in America that has like a lot of kids (they have their own TV show, check it out, there might be some episodes on YouTube.) does, which is assign a person to a chore for 3 WEEKS or until they can do it perfectly. My dad thought that was too much, so we got to this schedule.
So, I have been trying to figure out when in the world am I going to post some food on here?! I think I am going to try for Fridays. TRY. Inshallah. It's either going to be food that I or someone else made, or, if I can, food that I ate out. Like at a restaurant or something.
